The Leaves Are Changing In Time With the Drums

Namaste! I'm pretty sure that is the only thing I will remember from Hindi. I am now over half done with it!! I still have like a week and a half so I'm pretty positive I can knock it out before then. Once I am finished with it I feel like I'll be able to breathe a little easier.

Our football season has picked up. We are now 2-3 (2-0 in the division)!! Last week's game was super intense. It ended up going into over time and the defense was able to hold them after our touchdown to ensure the win for us. This week we are playing one of the schools that we beat last year so I am optimistic :)

I did not buy a dress when I went shopping with Rachel, so I am going after school today to hunt around town. I'm hoping I'll get one today because I don't see any other time frames opening up in the next 3 weeks. But it's not like I have a date to impress. The one guy I asked said maybe, which then turned into a no when he told me he was going with someone else. But that's okay. The girl he is going with is a senior so maybe I'll have a chance next year.  In more positive homecoming news, Mariama is on court!! If you didn't know, this is kinda a big deal for high school girls. And for me it's an even bigger deal because she is one of my best friends and my group and I have been campaigning to get her on for the past two years.

Over the weekend, I went with the marching band to a festival over 2 1/2 hours away from home. I love going though because it makes me feel better about being a "band geek". To see some of the best high school show bands in the region is so awesome for me and it makes me want to work harder so that we can look like that out on the field. although about half of the bands did "Bad Romance" in their show, it was better than listening to the same Bon Jovi show 5 times in a row like last year. We didn't get home until late and I slept in until like noon on Sunday.

Overall, it's been a pretty good year so far. Other than my car getting backed into by one of my friends, nothing has really gone horribly wrong. Let's hope it stays that way.

This Is Just Therapy

Well hello! It's been two weeks since my last post and I can't say I've done much. I have finally started working on my Hindi that I haven't worked on in over a year. I am pretty proud of myself, I finished a whole unit in about 5 1/2 hours and there are four units in level 1. I am going to be working on it tonight after I go shopping for a homecoming dress after school with Rachel. I'll do a post about my dress and what all we are doing on that day when the dance is a little closer.

Football hasn't been very interesting so far this year. We are 0-3 but we are playing a lot harder than we did last year. I think this new, younger coach is getting the team into this new, more positive mindset that is resulting in them not quiting halfway through the game. Our first three teams were very difficult and we didn't get demolished so I am still proud of them. Also because I am a junior, the kids in my class are getting a lot more playing time and it gives me a sense of pride to know that people that I am connected with are on the field playing their hearts out. Hopefully this season turns out better than the last one, in which we only won two games.

Today, we finished our group therapy session within my friend group. We all went around the table and said 1 thing we like about them, 1 thing they bring to the group and 1 thing we don't like about them. This is something that has been a long time coming. We needed to air out our issues and talk about things and make each member of the group feel good about themselves and give them the constructive criticism they need to grow and be better people.

From Files to Fights

Hello! Now that school has started back up I have a feeling that these will be more frequent. I think the biggest reason I have been slacking is because my computer died and my sister is always on the one upstairs. I'm hoping that I didn't lose everything because I have close to 1,000 songs on my iTunes and my Simverse that I have created is so elaborate and took so much time to build. In short, my life was on my computer. If it's gone, I'll be devastated. The computer guy says that it may be salvageable so I'm praying.

I have decided on a topic for my blog for a class I'm taking this year that is completely devoted to blogs and how they work, what you can do with them and why they are awesome. I'm going to do all of my TV recaps on that blog and link them to this one. I'll still tag what shows I talked about in here in a little two sentence thing with the link to my other blog. The link for it is feathericsunrise.blogspot.com and I have yet to post anything on there except for an intro type post with a list of all of my favorite shows. In the end, it'll leave me with more room in these posts to talk about life issues and such :)

Speaking of life issues, it's only the second week of school and already there has been a riff in the group. I agree with why it happened but it's also ridiculous that we are fighting already. It's all because Ellen and Rachel's (now ex-) boyfriend we talking and he was telling her that she was beautiful and that any guy would be lucky to have her and that he didn't understand why she was single. Now, this by itself is not anything to fight over. What made it dramatic was that she had saved the texts on her phone and that they were from a week before he Rachel had broken up. Also, that none of us knew that there was trouble brewing in their relationship. Nevertheless, they resolved their issues and all is well in the colony. I think that this is just one of many fights that are bound to happen this year. They are always petty and stupid so I'm not looking forward to it. I guess only time will tell.

First Day On A Brand New Planet (Sort Of)

Hello again! I suck at follow throughs. It says on here that my last post was in the beginning of July. JULY! Well, not much has changed. I still have my job and I'm now considered an upperclassman at school. Band camp is over and done with and we look pretty good. We have a bunch of new people this year and they are all playing catch-up to the rest of us. We are playing "Uprising" by Muse, "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train and "Break Your Heart" by Tiao Cruz.

I am looking forward to this year being awesome. Last year was my best so far and I'm hoping that this year will be like it in so many ways. Hopefully there is little friend drama and everything is calm and quite. I really don't care if I date anyone this year,. I haven't had a lover since the 8th grade so I am used to being without. My friends (man-friends included) are enough for me.
***************************************************************************
Well seeing as I let this go for a week and a half, here's what you missed:
  • We may not have won our first football game but the band did really well. Mr. Young said it was our best first show ever.
  • School is going good. I like all my teachers and classes. I don't like that they keep switching the arrangement of the lunch tables but hey, what can you do?
  • I had a Landon spotting at the football game!! Ask anyone that was there, I almost had a heart attack.
That's basically it. I'm gonna write another post so this one doesn't get to long and you all get bored.
